Brief Introduction:


flu (influenza), is an acute (For short time, self limiting), Highly Transferable infection of the respiratory tract which commonly occurs in the winter. flu usually appears in epidemic form and affects many people at once. It is a viral infection, The most common

complication of

influenza is pneumonia.


Symptoms:


The most common symptoms of flu are weakness, fatigue, muscle aches, headaches, fever (101 to 102 degrees),

sneezing, alternate episodes of runny and blocked nose. Although a person with influenza feels very sick, it rarely leads to more serious complications, except for those at greater risk (immunodeficient people e.g in AIDS)


Treatment
Typically there is little that is done in otherwise healthy people. The disease fades away automatically within 10 days
  • Bed rest
  • Drink extra fluids – at least one full glass of water or juice every hour.
  • Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can relieve head and muscle aches. Aspirin should be avoided for children.
