PMDC STEP 3 Preparation to Start in Foreign Students Academy Rawalpindi

Foreign students academy is located inside Holy Family Hospital where qualified staff teaches and guides the students about different levels of USMLE, FCPS and other medical exams. Thalassemia Management & Bone Marrow Transplant in PIMS Thalassemia Center

Pakistan Institute of medical sciences has a separate department of Thalassemia and BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) which are headed by Dr Tazeen and Dr Itrat respectively. In Pakistan, it is estimated that every year around 5000 children are born with Thalassemia. Most of the population of these children belong to the lower class and those people who are uneducated. “We have counseled the parents number of times about avoiding next Thalassemia baby. We have told them the methods which can be chosen to avoid having them. We tell them that it is very important to do chorionic villous sampling, a test which is used to diagnose Thalassemia in-utero. But still they don’t understand and next time come with another affected baby. That is why the population of Thalassemia affected children is increasing with-in the population of these poor and un-educated people” said Dr. Tazeen, the head of Thalassemia center PIMS. CPSP Collaborated with Dr. S.A Satti to arrange a Mock IMM Exam

The head of medicine department of CDA hospital Dr. Siddique Akbar Satti supervised a mock exam of IMM (Intermediate Module), on 31st of December 2014. Post graduate trainees from all over the Pakistan participated in this exam and really appreciated the efforts of CPSP and the organizers especially the Supervisor and Host Dr. Siddique Akbar Satti, who is the head of medicine unit of Capital Hospital (Also called CDA Hospital).Passing the IMM Exam is necessary to continue further training or to move into a sub-specialty. This mock exam was organized by CPSP and following were included among the organizers of this Exam.
