Celiac Disease and Barrett’s Esophagus, Avoid Wheat in Heart Burn

Avoid Wheat if you have Barrett Esophagus. In Barrett’s oesophagus , the cell lining of the lower end of oesophagus changes to the abnormal form. And it is considered a potential risk factor of oesophagal cancer. The exact cause of this condition is unknown but Gastroesophageal reflux disease also known as GERD is considered as the main culprit in the pathology of Barrett's oesophagus. Celiac disease is a disease that results from taking wheat and other similar products that contain a chemical substance known as gluten. Those individuals who are allergic to this gluten develop celiac disease. Therefore then should avoid wheat and other gluten-containing products such as barley and rye. Gastroesophageal reflux disease which is the main cause of getting Barrett oesophagus may result from insufficiency of the lower oesophagal sphincter, peptic ulcer disease, H-pylori induced peptic ulcer, and indigestion etc. The authors of a study published in a medical journal called Gastroente...

Ischemic Bowel Disease-Causes-Signs-Symptoms-Treatment

Ischemic Bowel Disease: Ischemia means a decrease in blood supply (blood flow) to an organ, tissue or part of the body. For example, cerebral ischemia means a decrease in blood supply to the brain. Maintenance of adequate blood flow is very important for correct and functioning and survival of an organ. Adequate blood supply provides oxygen and nutrients to the tissue and also removes waste materials from the site of formation. Inadequate blood flow or ischemia compromises the function of the organ because the organ is not getting enough nutrients and accumulation of toxic wastes destroy the function of the organ. If blood supply continues to decrease and ischemia is not correct, the organ may die. Maintenance of adequate blood flow is important. Because in some cases there is normal arterial blood supply but there is an obstruction in venous return. Therefore, blood won't flow through the vessels and this also results in ischemia. Ischemic bowel disease  is the di...

Celiac Disease-Sign and symptoms-Clinical Presentation-Treatment-Sprue

Celiac disease is a disease of the digestive system. what is affected by the celiac disease? our intestine has villi. villi are finger-like projections in the inner surface of the small intestine. Villi have further microscopic finger-like projections called microvilli. These villi and microvilli greatly increase the surface area of the small intestine and these are responsible for absorption of nutrients. In celiac disease, these villi are affected and get damaged. and the person shows the sign and symptoms of diarrhoea abdominal pain etc (explained later) Why These Villi are affected? Celiac disease is a disease of malabsorption ( nutrients are not absorbed properly ) and autoimmune response to gluten. Gluten is a substance found in wheat rye and barley. when a person with celiac disease eats such food. the immune system of the body reacts with gluten and try to destroy it but in this process the microvilli also destroy, and this results in malabsorption and symptoms li...
