Delusion - What is delusion and What are the different Types of Delusions? -



Delusions --

Delusion is a false, firm belief in something which is not a fact. Delusions indicate psychological disorders such as schizophrenia. They are important from the medico-legal point of view. The patient may commit suicide, murder or other crime under the influence of delusions.

Types Of Delusions.




Hypochondriacal Delusions --
The patient may say that he has cancer, is unable to swallow, that his bowel is obstructed, etc 


Delusions of poverty--
Are common in the depressions, the patient states that he is ruined financially and has no money and concern over relatives may lead to beliefs that they are starving sick or even dead.

Delusions of persecution --
The belief that others, often a vague “they,” are out to get him or her. These persecutory delusions often involve bizarre ideas and plots (e.g. "My Wife is trying to poison me with radioactive particles delivered through my tap water”).

Delusions of reference --
A neutral environmental event is believed to have a special and personal meaning. For example, a person with schizophrenia might believe a billboard or a person on TV is sending a message meant specifically for them.

Delusions of grandeur --
The belief that one is a famous or important figure, such as President or Primeminister. Alternately, delusions of grandeur may involve the belief that one has unusual powers that no one else has (e.g. the ability to fly).

Delusions of control --
The belief that one’s thoughts or actions are being controlled by outside, alien forces. Common delusions of control include thought broadcasting (“My private thoughts are being transmitted to others”), thought insertion (“Someone is planting thoughts in my head”), and thought withdrawal (“The CIA is robbing me of my thoughts.”).

Nihilistic Delusions --
the person thinks, his life worth nothing. He is nothing in this world. His life has no value. The world is nothing

Delusion of infidelity:
occur in chronic alcoholism and schizophrenia. The patient suspects the fidelity of his wife although she is chaste, and assault her.

MTI program Royal College of Physicians UK for International Doctors

  MTI (Mutual Training Initiative) is a program which is sponsored by the Royal College of Physicians UK (all three colleges), you can work in the UK for a period of up to two years.  It has the following requirements; 1.
